Prof. Gianfranco Pacchioni received his PhD from Freie Universität Berlin in 1984. He is an expert in heterogeneous catalysis and oxide materials, and has held positions at IBM Almaden and TU Munich. He is currently a Full Professor at the University of Milano-Bicocca, where he has also served as Vice Rector for Research and Director of the Department of Materials Science. He is the Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Physics: Condensed Matter. Prof. Pacchioni has published over 550 papers with more than 30,000 citations and has given around 500 invited talks. He is a fellow of several prestigious academies including the Accademia dei Lincei and Academia Europaea.
